About ToolNest
Free, fast, private online tools that run entirely in your browser.

Our mission
ToolNest exists to make everyday document tasks free, fast, and private. We believe that converting a JPG to a PDF, merging two contracts, or compressing a scanned receipt should not require uploading your files to an unknown server, creating an account, or paying a subscription. Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser using modern web standards — your files never leave your device.
We built ToolNest because we were frustrated with the existing landscape of free tool sites. Most are slow, ad-heavy, and quietly upload user files to remote servers for processing. Some even retain those files indefinitely. We wanted to prove that a better approach is possible: tools that are faster (because there's no upload step), more private (because nothing leaves the user's device), and genuinely free (because browser-side processing has no marginal server cost).
How we make money
ToolNest is supported entirely by advertising. We do not charge users, sell user data, or offer premium subscriptions. The ads shown on the site are clearly labeled and placed in non-intrusive locations — never disguised as tool controls, never blocking the upload area, and never used to trick users into accidental clicks.
This model works because the tools genuinely are useful, which brings legitimate organic traffic from search engines. That traffic sees the ads, some visitors click through, and the resulting advertising revenue covers the cost of running the site. We do not engage in click-exchange schemes, bot traffic, or any other artificial inflation of ad impressions. Those practices violate advertising network policies and would get the site banned.
Our privacy promise
Because every tool runs in your browser, your files literally never reach our servers. We do not see your PDFs, your images, your Word documents, or any of the content you process. We cannot lose, leak, or share your files because we never have them in the first place. This is the strongest privacy guarantee any online tool can make.
The only data we collect is anonymous analytics — page views, tool usage counts, broad geographic region, device type — to help us understand which tools are popular and where to focus development. We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses (beyond rough geolocation), or any information that could identify an individual user. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Our technology
The site is built with Next.js, React, and TypeScript. The PDF tools use a stack of open-source libraries: pdf-lib for low-level PDF manipulation, pdf.js for rendering pages to images, jsPDF for building new PDFs, mammoth for parsing Word documents, and the docx library for writing Word files. All of these run client-side, in the browser, using JavaScript and WebAssembly.
We chose this architecture deliberately. Server-side processing would require uploading user files, which creates a privacy risk and a server cost. By moving the processing to the browser, we eliminate both issues — and the tools actually become faster, because there's no upload or download step. The trade-off is that very large files may hit browser memory limits, but for 99% of real-world use cases, browser-side processing works perfectly.
